Key facts about PickerSpin
- Free to use, with no account, no signup and no ads on the web experience.
- Provably fair: the winner is drawn with crypto.getRandomValues() (a cryptographically secure RNG) before the wheel animation starts, so the animation can never disagree with the draw.
- Anyone can verify the fairness claim at /randomness by running up to 100,000 simulated spins and checking the chi-squared goodness-of-fit result.
- Runs in any modern browser with no install, and is also available as a free Android app.
- Includes a wheel spinner, a 3D dice roller, a 75-ball bingo caller, a 90-ball Tambola/Housie caller, a random team generator, a coin flip and comment pickers for Instagram and YouTube.
- Common uses: picking a student in class, splitting a group into teams, drawing a giveaway or raffle winner, and settling everyday decisions.
How to spin the wheel to pick a random winner
- Add your entries — Type your options or paste a list — one per line or comma-separated. Each entry becomes a slice on the wheel.
- Turn on remove-after-spin if you need unique results — For a raffle, classroom roster or multi-prize draw, enable "Remove winner after spin" so no entry can be picked twice.
- Spin the wheel — Click Spin. The winner is drawn with the browser’s cryptographically secure random number generator before the animation starts, so every entry has exactly equal probability.
- Share or record the result — Share the result link, or run a Live Spin room so remote viewers watch the same spin resolve at the same moment.
Questions People Actually Ask
Is this actually random, or just "random-looking"?
Actually random. We use the Web Crypto API's getRandomValues() function—same cryptographic standard your bank uses. Every slice has mathematically equal probability. And here's the kicker: the result is determined the instant you click. The spinning? That's just for show.
Why does the wheel sometimes land right near a line?
Because it's genuinely random. Edges have equal probability to everywhere else—we don't avoid "close calls." Actually, those heart-stopping near-misses? They prove randomness is working. A rigged wheel would avoid them.
Can I make some options more likely than others?
Yep. Simple workaround: add the option multiple times. Want "Pizza" at 3× the odds of "Salad"? Make your list: Pizza, Pizza, Pizza, Salad. Each entry gets one slice, each slice has equal probability. Math handles the rest.
Wait—my entries vanished. What happened?
They're stored in your browser's localStorage, tied to that specific browser and device. Switched browsers? Cleared your browsing data? Used incognito mode? That'd do it. Cloud sync is on our roadmap.
If I share my wheel, can people mess with it?
Nope. Shared links are snapshots—frozen in time. Recipients can spin and see results, but any changes they make stay on their device. Your original? Totally safe.
How many options can I cram in there?
Up to 100 technically. But honestly, anything over 20-30 gets hard to read. If you've got 200 raffle entries, consider splitting into rounds or using a list-based picker instead.
Is this actually free? What's the catch?
No catch. Free means free—no accounts, no premium tiers, no spin limits, no ads. We built this because we needed it ourselves. Figured we'd share it.
How do I prove my giveaway was legit?
Screen record everything. Show the full entry list going in, capture the spin, display the result. Some creators add timestamps or live viewer counts too. Transparency builds trust.
