Who Goes First Wheel
The who goes first wheel settles turn order by draw, which takes about three seconds and removes the argument that would otherwise open the game.
Replace the placeholders with real names and spin. Turn on "Remove winner after spin" and keep spinning to generate the full turn order rather than just the first player.
Going first is a genuine advantage in a lot of games, which is why the rulebook methods exist — highest roll, youngest player, whoever last visited a bakery. Those are fine until somebody points out that the youngest player has now gone first for six games running.
A wheel is faster than any of them and carries no built-in bias towards a particular person. Everyone watches the same draw, and the game starts.
It handles the non-game versions equally well: which team presents first, who reads first, whose turn it is to pick the music. Any situation where the order is arbitrary but somebody will still feel hard done by is a situation worth handing to a wheel.
Who Goes First Wheel — questions
How do I get the full turn order, not just first?
Turn on "Remove winner after spin" and keep spinning. Each name leaves the wheel as it is drawn, so successive spins give you the complete order.
Why not use the rulebook method?
Highest roll works but takes longer, and methods like "youngest player goes first" carry a permanent bias — the same person goes first every game until somebody complains.
Can I use it outside board games?
Yes. Presentation order, reading order, who picks the music — anywhere the order is arbitrary but somebody will still feel hard done by.
