A game for the gap before dinner
There is always a stretch on Thanksgiving when the food is nearly ready and everyone is waiting. Bingo fills it without needing a board game that only half the family knows. Print a card for each person, cover squares with anything from the kitchen (dried beans and popcorn kernels both work), and call the words from a phone or a laptop on the counter.
Because every word has a picture, a four-year-old and a great-grandparent can play the same card. Switch the pictures off if the table is all adults and you would rather it was a little harder.
In the classroom
The week before the break is a good time for it. Print two cards per sheet, play a couple of quick line games, and use the called words afterwards for a short writing prompt, such as a sentence using three words that came up. The list is editable, so you can swap in your own vocabulary words.
A gratitude version
Some families play a slower round where whoever marks a square has to say one thing they are thankful for that goes with the word. Grandma is easy. Onion takes some thought.

How to play Thanksgiving bingo
- Print the cards — Pick how many cards you need, up to 100, then choose A4 or Letter and 1, 2 or 4 cards per sheet and press Print.
- Hand out cards and markers — Give everyone a card and something to cover squares with, such as dried beans, popcorn kernels or coins.
- Call the words — Press Call a word. A Thanksgiving word is drawn at random, shown with its picture, and added to the called list. No word repeats in a game.
- Check the winner — Type the winner's card number into Check a card to see their card with the called words marked and whether they have a line.

Yes. The Thanksgiving bingo cards are free to print with no signup and no ads. Make up to 100 unique cards in one go, on A4 or Letter paper, with 1, 2 or 4 cards per sheet.
Can young children play Thanksgiving bingo?
Yes. Every word on the Thanksgiving cards has a picture beside it, such as a turkey, pie or football, so children who cannot read yet can play by matching pictures with the rest of the family.
How do I call Thanksgiving bingo?
Use the caller on the same page. Press Call a word and it picks one of the Thanksgiving words at random, shows it with its picture and adds it to a list of called words. A word is never called twice in one game.
How many cards should I print for a family gathering?
One per player, plus two or three spares for late arrivals. Every card in a pack is different, and the pack stays in your browser, so you can add more cards later without changing the ones already printed.
Can I use my own words?
Yes. Edit the word list on the page, for example to add family names or classroom vocabulary, then make a new pack. Cards need at least 24 words. Words you add print without a picture.
How do I check a winning card?
Type the card number printed under the card into Check a card. The page shows the card with the called words marked and tells you whether it has a complete row, column or diagonal.
How long does a game of Thanksgiving bingo take?
A single line usually comes in part way through the list of 45 words, so a line game takes a few minutes. A full card needs most of the list. Play a few quick line games if dinner is close.
