Are these Sudoku puzzles randomly generated?
Yes. Each one is made fresh in your browser. A complete grid is filled at random, then 40 numbers are taken out one at a time, with a check after each that the puzzle still has exactly one solution.
Is there a hint button?
Not one that fills in an answer. Tap an empty cell and the Possible Numbers panel lists the digits its row, column and box still allow. If it says no number fits, one of your earlier entries is wrong.
Can I undo a wrong move?
Yes. Undo steps back one move at a time, all the way to the start. You can also tap a cell you filled to change or clear it, and Reset takes the grid back to its starting numbers.
Is my Sudoku progress saved if I close the tab?
Yes, in this browser on this device. An unfinished puzzle comes back when you open the page again. A different browser, a private window or clearing your site data starts a new one.
How hard are the puzzles?
Easy. Each one starts with 41 of the 81 numbers filled in. We generated 2,000 of them and 98% could be finished with naked singles alone. There is no difficulty setting yet.
What is the difference between a naked single and a hidden single?
A naked single is a cell where only one digit still fits. A hidden single is a digit that fits only one cell in a row, column or box, even if that cell could hold other digits. You find naked singles cell by cell and hidden singles digit by digit.
