Classroom Spinner – Random Student Name Picker

The PickerSpin classroom spinner is a free random student name picker: paste a class roster, spin to call on a student at random, and turn on remove-after-pick so everyone gets a turn before anyone repeats. Rosters stay in your own browser, so no student data is sent anywhere.

Use our Classroom Spinner to randomly pick students in your class. Add student names, spin the wheel, and let chance decide who goes next.

  2. Spin the wheel

Classroom Spinner – Random Student Name Picker — questions

How do I use the classroom spinner?

Type or paste your student names (one per line or comma-separated), then click Spin. The wheel picks a random student. You can save multiple class rosters and switch between them.

Is the student selection truly random?

Yes. We use the Web Crypto API (crypto.getRandomValues) for cryptographically secure randomness — the same standard used in financial applications. Every student has an equal probability of being selected.

Can I remove a student after they're picked?

Yes. Toggle "Remove after pick" to automatically remove selected students from the wheel. This ensures every student gets called on before anyone is repeated — just like equity sticks.

Can I save my class roster?

Yes. Name your class and click Save. Your rosters are stored in your browser and persist between sessions. You can save multiple classes and switch between them instantly.

Is this free to use in my classroom?

Completely free. No signup, no account, no premium tier. We built this for teachers because the alternatives were too slow, too ad-heavy, or required logins.
